VOLA Learning Consortium (VOLA) provides a conduit for partnership work between Voluntary, Community and Faith (or ‘Third’) Sector organisations involved in learning, skills and/ or employability services in Merseyside and Halton (Greater Merseyside).

Created in September 2007 with four founding partners, the consortium now has over 170 members across the six boroughs of Greater Merseyside.

The consortium has robust contract, programme and project management processes and, to date (Jan-12), have involved 68 member organisations in the delivery of consortium contracts. Over 100 members have also taken part in capacity building and Quality Improvement activities.

To date, £6.4m in learning/ skills contracts has been won, 2,800 of the hardest to reach learners have received training, including over 1000 ‘NEET’ young people and a range of adult programmes.

Furthermore, it has supported (2009-11) over 600 of Merseyside’s wider Third Sector employers with workforce development, funding over 6,000 learners on a wide range of training courses.
